We adopted a cat

No not literally (for everyone who just gasped from shock since I'm allergic to cats)! Well who would have thought back in September when we adopted Daisy, we were actually adopting dat... or a cog. We are convinced that Daisy is half cat. Now, granted I haven't spent a lot of time around cats but from what I know about them, Daisy displays all the qualities of a cat. Here is a small list:

  • Every morning when she wakes up, she does what we like to call "the cat stretch". The one where she pushes her front paws way out like she's bowing, then she pulls herself forward arching her back like the black cat that you see on halloween paraphernalia, then she walks forward with her legs dragging behind her and takes a few steps like she's crawling. It's totally cat like and gets a laugh every time from both Liz and I. This is what she looks like in the middle... without the dumb looking face of course.
  • She is a big fan of sitting next to or even on top of us. I'm sure most small dogs do it too, but cats are notorious for rubbing against people and sitting with people. She also falls asleep on top of us (very cat-like).
  • When we took her to the vet, she ate the cat's food that was on the floor when we walked in. So we know she either will either eat anything (more likely) or *really* likes cat food.
  • She hates the rain or getting wet. She squirms when she has to take a bath. Although oddly enough, she likes puddles, and runs directly at them and through them when we're on a walk. That's not cat-like, but that's the dog in her.
  • She prowls like a cat. It's actually really common for her to do it and happens several times a day, but it has been hard to catch it on video. Well here it is:

  • And the clincher, she loves laser pointers just like cats do.

    *SURGEON GENERALS WARNING*
No dogs were harmed in the making of this movie:

We will consider sending in that video to funniest home videos.

Does anyone need any more evidence that she is half cat?

PS - thanks a lot Hillary for making me incredibly self-conscious of my grammar. I'm gonna guess I went through editing it about 5 times so far and it probably still is wrong. Yeah, that's right... I said 'gonna'.
